Fibreglass design was formed by the proprietor, Horton Whyte
over 50 years ago. We specialise in the design, development and production of
Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic (GRP) products.
Our first international company was set up in Saudi Arabia
in1982, and recently expanded to Jamaica and Nigeria, with the intention of
globalising and exploring other possibilities within the market.
Over the past years FGD has grown, taking a more creative
approach to the products we offer to our clientele. Fibreglass material has
enabled us to innovate a range of products which varies in size, shape and
style; creating an element of uniqueness to each individual product.
Since fibreglass design was found in 1955, our main task was
manufacturing baths, shower basins, water tanks and swimming pools. FGD also
made a range of imitating sharks and fish ornaments for the Blackpool sea front
which are still standing today. Since then, we have moved onto manufacturing
car and lorry body shells, boats, roofs, flooring with the extension of
providing a general repair service.
As the years developed we have extended our range to accommodate modernised
products including lighting, champagne buckets, benches with heated light
facility, stylish tables and chairs to suit our clientele within many industry
sectors for instance the entertainment industry- bars, clubs and restaurants.
We have worked with many companies manufacturing products to
suit their brand; Chelsea Flower Show for example, requested products to suit the
seasonal climate; flower pots, garden pavilions, fish ponds and a variety of water
features.
In 1992 FGD manufactured a portable concord for British
Airways which was located at Heathrow Airport terminal 1, 2 and 3 this was a
long standing feature for many years attracting a lot of recognition.
At present we have broadened our horizons to manufacture
products for interior and exterior decorative displays, decorative plaster columns,
ceiling covings, fire place, niches and wall light diffusers are all
classically made out of modern materials which has a light weight and pre-primed
effect easy to install and assemble. These are available in various shapes and
styles to suit your needs and surroundings.
